A Sunshine Mission is a vegan food and lifestyle blog dedicated to sharing easy & vibrant, plant-based recipes. The recipes take a simple approach focusing on whole foods and all-natural, wholesome ingredients to make food that’s both delicious and nutritious. We Design LA developed a custom, minimalistic blog design to showcase the unique content and vivid photography for A Sunshine Mission. We Design LA integrated all social media platforms in order to create a truly engaging, dynamic blog experience.

Background

Laura Fairchild started A Sunshine Mission as an outlet to share her passion for creating healthy, delicious vegan food with the world. A Sunshine Mission features recipes that are not only vegan, but also gluten-free, refined sugar-free, nut-free and paleo-friendly as well to accommodate everyone.

Although her heart lies in the kitchen, A Sunshine Mission is about more than just food. It’s about seeking out beauty, wellness, and longevity every day so that you can reach your full potential. A Sunshine Mission shares words of wisdom, creative mood boards, and seasonal wish lists offering a unique perspective and fresh voice.

Opportunity

We Design LA was enlisted to build a custom food blog from the ground up. A Sunshine Mission had an idea of what they wanted to share, but We Design LA really helped to breathe life into the blog through excellent design, a custom theme, and advanced brand strategy. The goal was to give the reader a consistent, exciting experience by showcasing photography and making it highly interactive and easy to navigate.

Our Custom Solution

We Design LA developed a highly interactive, engaging platform for A Sunshine Mission to help grow a passionate following in the food and nutrition sphere. We Design LA helped build a brand strategy that brought out the brightness, optimism, and freshness that A Sunshine Mission represents. The blog encompasses everything from photography to food to travel to living in a really beautiful way.

We Design LA integrated social media through a custom toolbar and footer image index. This is an important aspect in growing the blog presence, along with developing a publishing schedule and consistent brand experience. With over 10,000 Instagram followers, A Sunshine Mission has quickly grown into a successful source for easy, delectable and healthy recipes for people all over the world.

As a food blogger, I had such a strong vision for everything I wanted A Sunshine Mission to be. I knew the overall look I was going for as well as the artistic vision and visual aspects that would be best to showcase my recipes, travel photography, and other unique creative content. I’d already come up with my own logo as well as color scheme.

Approaching We Design LA with what I had in mind, I felt like I really benefited from the collaborative process encouraged by their team. They really helped bring my dreams to a reality while giving me creative license to direct how I wanted my blog to look and how I wanted it to function for my readers. This collaboration was really important to me because as an artist I felt like We Design LA really listened to what I had to say. They took my ideas and ran with in, involving me every step of the way.

I had the control to be able to design my site the way that I wanted with the We Design LA team there to assist me as I went along. The end result ended up being everything I envisioned and more. I’m glad I was able to work with such a cooperative team at We Design LA!
